ISTA-R Lobbying Day
Next Tuesday, February 27 is the official ISTA-Retired lobbying day. I plan to attend and have room for three more. It would be nice to have several from the Allen County Chapter to attend. Please call or email me if you are willing and have the time to spend a day to support public education and the retired. There is a bill in the chambers which would give us access to a permanent COLA. no more stipends! We need to make certain that it passes. Contact Jim Clauser. You will need to register on the ISTA web site if you plan to go.
Backpack Full of Cash
A showing of the film BACKPACK FULL OF CASH narrated by Matt Damon will be on Saturday, April 14 at 9 AM at Ivy Tech Northeast Campus, 3800 N. Anthony. There is a reception at 8:30 AM. Because of limited seating, one must register at https://goo.gl/SDwnPP. This showing is sponsored by I-PACE, NEIFPE, and ISTA. There is seating for 195. A panel discussion will follow the screening. This film deals with the drain of funds from public education to vouchers.

Meeting Information and Updates - Letter from ISTA-R Allen County President
Greetings. I hope everyone has had a good summer.
As you know, our calendar went out with Patty Martone, being our speaker for the November 8th meeting. Then Patty passed away unexpectedly at that same time. So changes have been made.
The speaker for that meeting will be Nate Williams, Attorney with Shambaugh, Kast, Beck and Williams.
He will be speaking to us and including a question and answer time regarding things we need to know or need to be doing at our age or for some of the newly retired, maybe what your parents need.
Shambaugh, Kast, Beck and Williams is the law firm that provides us with the benefit of two free half hour sessions per year.
The November 8th meeting will be held at Wu's Restaurant, 4411 Coldwater Road at 12:00 noon.
Our first meeting of this year will be held Thurs. Sept. 13th at 12:00 noon at Chop's Steak and Seafood, 6421 W. Jefferson. Craig Blume from ISTA will be our speaker, bringing us up to date on what is happening.
Looking forward to getting back together.
Fran McIntosh, President
